Supplement Showdown: Green Tea Extract VS Synephrine

Formulating a thermogenic weight loss aid product for your supplement line can be complex. There are a ton of fat-burning ingredients to choose from that have different effects on the body as it pertains to weight loss. But how do you decide? Most supplement company owners will tell you caffeine is a great place to start when formulating a thermogenic. And they’re not wrong. But today on the Accelerated Genetix Blog, we discuss two of the most popular weight-loss ingredients used when formulating fat-burners; Green Tea Extract VS Synephrine.

Green Tea Extract

Green Tea Extract (GTE) is its concentrated form and is a great source of antioxidants. Antioxidants help reduce oxidative stress by fighting cell damage caused by free radicals. Catechins, or polyphenol antioxidants, make up most of GTE’s antioxidant content. One of the catechins found in green tea is EGCG, which is thought to be the reason for Green Tea’s health benefits. When the body goes through oxidative stress, fat buildup occurs within your blood, causing inflammation and leads to high blood pressure. These powerful antioxidants found in green tea help to decrease inflammation. The combination of these catechins when combined with Green Tea’s caffeine content help to enhance thermogenesis. Green Tea Extract remains a staple when it comes to your fat burning formulation.

Synephrine comes from the Citrus Aurantium plant (Bitter Orange fruit), is commonly used for weight loss and is considered to be a stimulant. When combined with other herbal stimulants such as caffeine, Synephrine is said to intensify their effects. Synephrine is known to increase metabolic rates, energy levels and the body’s capacity to burn calories. Although Synephrine is structurally similar to ephedrine, it does not have the same negative side effects on the central nervous system. This alkaloid positively impacts the nervous system which may help boost metabolism and increase focus. Other studies have shown Synephrine can help reduce appetite, promote liver health and help to reduce glucose production.
