Everything You Need to Know About the SARM Control Act

Recently the US Senate introduced new legislation giving the Drug Enforcement Administration more power to enforce against Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators, otherwise known as SARM’s. SARM’s have been around for quite some time but became a major player in the Supplement industry after The Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2014 was put into place banning pro-hormones. Senators Orrin Hatch and Sheldon Whitehouse introduced the SARM Control Act of 2018 so that SARM’s would be added to the DEA’s list of Schedule III drugs. Today on the Accelerated Genetix Blog, we discuss everything you need to know about the SARM Control Act of 2018.

So, what exactly are SARM’s and how do they effect the body. Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators are chemically similar to anabolic steroids and work by stimulating or inhibiting certain receptors in body tissue. SARM’s operate by actively modulating your body’s androgens. Androgens are chemicals in your body that control masculine characteristic development. SARM’s can convert to DHT which then connect to androgen receptors. Research shows that SARM’s can effectively increase muscle mass, bone mass and improve fat loss. Common SARM’s include: MK-2866 or Ostarine, LGD-4033, S-4, YK11, and GW.

Until the US Senate introduced the SARM Control Act, SARM’s have been in a gray area as far as legality. Company’s got around selling SARM’s by not marketing or labeling them as dietary sport supplements. Instead they would call SARM’s “experimental chemicals” not meant for human consumption. The World Anti-Doping Agency has banned SARM’s, and the Olympic Committee has already begun testing for them too. The bipartisan SARM’s Control Act extends the power of the DEA under the 2014 Designer Anabolic Steroids Control Act, which includes the illegal import, export and distribution of SARM’s. The bill has received wide support from leaders all around the supplement industry. The US Government has yet to sign a bill into law but will continue to peruse more control of the Sport Supplement industry as it pertains to SARM’s. For now, SARM’s remain in the gray area, but should be produced at your own risk.

The Downside

Right off the bat you should know something is fishy about SARM’s when you realize they aren’t marketed as human safe supplements. Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators have not been approved for medical use by any governing body or clinical research company. SARM’s do come with a wide range of negative side effects that can include: acne, male breast growth, male pattern baldness, body hair growth and cholesterol imbalance. Like most things, moderation is key. When researching SARM’s, it’s important to remember that these chemicals weren’t originally meant for just muscle building. Be smart. Do research and use at your own risk.

Healthy Alternatives

Thankfully Accelerated Genetix offers a huge list of legal, safe alternatives to SARM’s. Specifically, Testosterone Boosters are all-natural, safe herbal supplements that work by directly boosting the amount of natural testosterone within your body. At Accelerated Genetix natural test boosters are clinically tested, produce zero side effects, and don’t interrupt your body’s natural regulating process.

The bottom line on SARM’s is you should use at your own risk. SARM’s might remain in the gray area as far as manufacturing and distribution, but it’s only a matter of time before the bill gets signed into law.
